Everything you need to know to get the most out of your Urban Farm
Caution!! Don't plug house power into the unit until after the reservoir has been filled.
Your job:
-there is minor assembly required. See directions.
-attach the male end of a garden hose to the fitting on
the righthand side of the control panel. Make sure it
is secure and then you can turn on your tap water
supply.
-pack the mesh inserts with the supplied rockwool and
place them in the planters. There is one insert
with a notch in the rim. That insert is for the "pump
planter" and it passes the pump cord.
-Caution:Never operate The Urban Farm without the mesh inserts being full of rockwool. The rockwool displaces a certain amount of volume, which relates to the postion of the auto-fill valve. If operated without rockwool the reservoir will overflow.
-open the auto-fill float valve to fill the reservoir from
your tap.
-mix in equal amounts of Urban Farm Fertilizers Part A and B until
your supplied TDS meter reads 800ppm plus the ppm's of
your plain tap water.
-use HydroSystem's Ph up/down and the supplied Ph strips
to adjust your reservoir to 5.8-6.2.
-plug in house power.
-the timer is preset for 8 irrigations/day (every 3 hours).
-wait for an irrigation cycle. The system will fill and
drain and the rockwool is now saturated.
-plant your seeds or seedlings (from starter trays)
straight into the rockwool.
-From this point on you will simply monitor and adjust
your ppms and ph every 1-5 days, depending on how
rapidly your tank is changing.
-while plants are young the reservoir will only need to
be changed every 3-6 weeks. Large mature plants need a
change every 7-21 days. This is simple because of The
Urban Farm design. Follow the directions
included in every Urban Farm.
